The City of Toronto is reviewing the Animal Bylaw in response to Council directives, and with the overall goal to improve the coexistence of humans and wildlife, to decrease nuisance behaviour and to enhance animal welfare.
The review aims to modernize the rules related to the feeding of wildlife and the ownership of rabbits, guinea pigs and pigeons as well as the sale of rabbits and guinea pigs. It will also examine the merits and advantages of developing a positive list of animals that people can keep as pets, and explore issues related to pet licensing and cosmetic procedures on pets.
The City is seeking input from residents and stakeholders on these topics. Below are a few ways to share your insights and get involved.
1) Take the survey to provide feedback on the feeding of wildlife, responsible ownership of rabbits, guinea pigs and pigeons and pet licensing.
2) Email comments and feedback about the Animal Bylaw Review to mlsfeedback@toronto.ca by December 17 at 11:59 p.m.
3) Share and promote the survey with your network.
