Lambton Kingsway Park Playground Project

This project is part of the Toronto Parks and Trees Foundation collaboration with the Friends of Lambton Kingsway Park

The Project

Every playground has a unique and important story.  Our playground, affectionately known as The Shale Pit, is no different.  However, what makes this plot of land -- situated behind our local public school exceptional -- is the community that surrounds its borders.

With racer-slick pitched hills making the best sledding tracks in the winter and its perfectly shaded baseball diamond for sticky, late-night summer games, it is the heart of our childrens' universe.  Pounding with the energy of our babies, neighbours, friends and family, The Shale Pit is alive with the voices, faces and laughter of most everyone in our exceptionally closeknit community of The Kingsway.

Today The Shale Pit's equipment is no longer sufficient to serve the amount of children this family neighbourhood raises together.  In addition, the existing structures show the wear and tear of decades of use.

The playground campaign is Phase 1 of a larger park rejuvenation envisioned by the Friends of Lambton Kingsway Park in collaboration with the City of Toronto.

The Impact

Your donation will help us rebuild The Shale Pit's structures, allowing them to support the intense growth in young families this community has seen over the last few decades.

Your donation will also help make it more accessible to the senior members of our community -- those who wish to pass its legacy of being a warm and welcoming gathering place to their grandchildren.
