Humbertown Plaza development

Humbertown Development Update I recently had a meeting with the Humbertown developers to talk about the timeline of events as work starts to get underway. We are going to see work begin in July with Hydro, Bell and Rogers. Hydro will take approximately 5 months to finish their work, and then Bell and Rogers will work until the end of this year and into 2017 as they bury cables and ensure there is network support of the new development. Additionally, most of the sewers in the immediate area will need to be relocated to accommodate for this development. This work will begin in 2017 and will take 8-12 months, taking us into 2018. Residents will receive notice of any work that is to be done in their neighbourhood and are welcome to contact our office if they have any questions. I asked the developer about the timeline for actual construction and the response was: Right now our timing for starting sales in early 2018. We will likely use a space in the mall to do the sales centre. To date we are still working on a food store so no update on that end for now.

I was pleased with the easy, unanimous passage of the Humbertown Sight and Area Specific Policy. This will guide and hopefully constrain future potential development in the area limiting building heights to six storeys.  I would like to thank the members of Working Group for putting in so much time and effort in creating this report and for contributing their ideas on the future of their neighbourhoods.
